 \n\n\n\n\nSusan Fox Hirschmann\n\n\nCeramic Artist\, Susan Fox Hirschman
n\, has a lifetime of studies in the arts\, clay\, and design. Her retur
n to her magical home here in Cape May County\, in Wildwood Crest\, four
years ago\, has brought her new inspiration. These beaches\, the sunset
 s\, the birds\, the butterflies\, the ocean\, the dune grasses\, all of
nature’s magic energizes her passion to create in clay. And Susan just
loves working in clay!\nSusan studied at American University (BA) and C
orcoran School of Art (Ceramics and Interior Design) both in Washington
DC. Her work is in collections and homes worldwide and she has won numer
ous awards for her unique work\, as well as being featured and published
in fine craft books and magazines. She has exhibited at nationally reno
wned juried Art and Craft Shows nationwide. “The joy of working in cla
y is my passion\,” she states\, “and my years on the beaches\, the t
rails\, all of Cape May’s natural abundance\, influence my work. Carvi
ng seashells\, ocean waves\, dune grasses and familiar faces enjoying th
em all\, are incorporated into my work. Color and texture\, like those f
ound in the sea scapes of local sunsets\, influence my work. I love that
people can enjoy my pottery\, for then the circle\, from maker to user\
, is complete. This continues to create that magic I feel being a cerami
c artist.\nTo give others joy with my work is truly fulfilling!” Most
of Susan’s work begins on the potter’s wheel\, with stoneware or por
celain clay and after intricate carving or additions\, the work is fired
in her kilns. Then she glazes each\, with her own glazes\, before a sec
ond firing to 2400 degrees Fahrenheit\, for permanence and durability. M
ost glazes are either painted\nor airbrushed on each piece. Many pieces
have added natural reeds\, grape vines and bamboo\, adding texture to he
r art. Each piece is a six-week process from wet clay to finished piece
making each\, one of a kind and unique.\nAfter forty-five years creating
in clay\, the work from Susan’s hands is ceramic art that is always e
volving\, like the oceans and the seasons. Susan is honored and excited
to be featured artist at Jessie Creek Winery!\nwww.potteryart.biz\n\n\nL
arissa Silva\n\n\n\n\nLarissa Silva’s art blends harmoniously to evoke
curiosity and contemplation through the interplay of textured embroider
y threads over bold surface hues of paint and ink. Luscious flora and fa
una surrounding her Cumberland County home\, near the Maurice River\, pr
ovide an endless source of inspiration for each unique masterpiece.\n\nB
orn and raised among generations of artisans on both sides of her family
\, she never doubted her desire to create and share art. Although her pa
intings have evolved over the years into the mixed-media abstract painti
ngs you are currently viewing\, it wasn’t until she graduated from Row
an University as an Art Educator in 2022 that she felt the confidence to
“let go” and unleash her creative renderings and unique style. Afte
r raising five children who have transitioned to independent lives\, she
finds joy and freedom in creating art at home after countless hours of
teaching energetic middle-school students in Bridgeton\, NJ. Her husband
\, Jose Silva\, remains her greatest source of encouragement\, always su
pporting her artistic wanderings and celebrating her current success.\n\
