August Featured Artist: Dawn Kohansky
Dawn is an accomplished painter and illustrator whose multifaceted career is rooted in a lifelong dedication to the arts. Working primarily in acrylics, she also explores oil, pastel, pencil, watercolor and mixed media. Her style is marked by a keen attention to detail, light, form and techniques that add dimension to her work.
A 1980 graduate of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, her artistic path has been shaped by trips to Vizcaya Gardens in Miami to the untamed beauty of the Everglades. Her formative experiences include large tropical scenes and florals to the commercial arts as a graphic designer. After ten years in Pompano Beach, Florida, Dawn returned to her hometown in South Jersey, where she became a strong advocate for the arts including a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts.
Dawn has received multiple awards and remains an active member of various regional art organizations. As owner of Kohansky Art & Design Studio, she brings a lifetime vision that feels calm, warm and inviting which allows serene stories to guide my brush, to share that with others in a language beyond words.
August Featured Artist: Paula Pagliughi
Paula is an artist based in South Jersey, whose passion for painting has been a lifelong journey. Her medium of choice is acrylic and watercolor. Paula masterfully combines brushes and painting knives to create diverse textures and techniques.
Throughout her journey, she has taken many workshops and classes from various artists. Paula has showcased her artwork in numerous shows and has earned several awards. Paula’s work resonates with many, evoking emotion and thought, telling a story while inviting viewers to engage with her pieces.
She takes great pride in being a member of several organizations that foster collaboration and creativity among artists. These include the Society of New Jersey Artists, Ocean City Fine Art League, Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts, Gallery 50 and Perkins Center for the Arts. Through her involvement in these groups, Paula not only hones her skills but also supports the collective growth of the artistic community in which she thrives.
