Blue Bottle Art by Maggie Senatore

Blue Bottle Art is a "feel good" art company inspired by my favorite place in the world ... the beach. Each piece of art is crafted with sea glass, fragments that were once broken and forgotten, then transformed by the ocean's waves into smooth, frosted gems. Inspired by the shore, these works embody renewal, beauty, strength and the timeless rhythm of the waves, with each piece created to bring you joy and comfort.

Blue Bottle Art was created by a teacher turned full time artist and business owner, Maggie Senatore. Growing up at the beach, it was always easy to find inspiration and beauty in nature. Maggie now spends her days sharing that beauty with thousands of customers around the world. You can reach out to her to order your very own custom piece or follow along with her yearly event schedule using the following platforms:

Helen Selsdon

I was born in London, England. I studied Fine Arts, Painting at Camberwell School of Art and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Soon after this I visited New York City and moved permanently to the United States in 1989.

For many years I have worked from direct observation, painting en plein air and in the studio to capture the heft and beauty of objects and people around me. My fascination with this iconography has recently taken me in a different direction – the result of a visit to Sicily and a 4th century AD Roman villa that left me mesmerized and inspired. The Villa del Casale near Piazza Armerina is covered with exquisite frescoes and mosaics, including an early representation of women wearing bikinis and playing sports. The work in this exhibit is from my memory, imagination and photographic images of the villa and extends my exploration into interior spaces and forms.

Rick Lang

Rick began his career in marine sciences. He spent years traveling along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts for various projects aimed at restoring and maintaining our coastal resources.  During that time, Rick acquired and honed his skills in visually translating the coastal scenery onto canvas.   He developed a style that captures the vibrant colors, light, and feel of the coastal community.  The endless combinations of sun, clouds, sand, and waves meld to make a continuously changing visual model that evokes a sense of relaxation and comfort.  Many of Rick’s paintings also create a sense of nostalgia for past times at the shore with family and friends

Rick has received multiple awards and enjoys exhibiting in various juried art shows, events, and festivals throughout South Jersey.  Rick’s paintings are created to share the ‘shore experience’ throughout the entire year.   Rick’s primary medium is oil painting, and he enjoys both studio and plein air painting. Rick is also a member of the Ocean City Art Center.

Greg Stett

Greg Stett was born and raised in New Jersey.  He received his love of art and talent from his mother, and his scientific genes from his father.  The career years were spent in the Biomedical Engineering field in Louisiana and Texas.  He returned to New Jersey at retirement.

Having dabbled in drawing and cartooning since childhood,  it was not until retirement that he fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming an artist.  He started by doing portraits of his grandchildren as Christmas presents for his children.   He moved on to serene scenes of his favorite places, Cape May and Mannington, NJ and most recently started painting Texas scenes.

Pastels became the medium of choice because the pure color pigment helps capture the reflections and light of nature, the glow of the sun on sand, sky, or water, as well as the translucence of skin and the twinkle in an eye.  “My painting style focuses on realism, play of light and detail. As an admirer of the works of the old masters, I continue to seek ways that they were able to portray light and shadow, as well as fine details.  The level of detail creates many challenges, but capturing that realism helps the viewer be in the moment.”

Greg is a member of the Salem County Art League, Gallery 50, Juried Associate Artist of Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts, Perkins Center, The Pastel Society of New Jersey, Salem County Art Tour and STROBE.  He splits his time between Cape May and Mannington, New Jersey.  Both places offer a never-ending supply of inspiring and wonderful things to paint.

Drew Scarpa

Inspiration and Work
As an avid fisherman and boat captain, Drew spends many days outdoors. Through that experience he's been developing a body of work that is based on the landscape and seascape of Southern New Jersey where he lives, as well as other areas along the East Coast.

His goal is to capture the essence of the moment. The warm glow of sunshine, the cool of the evening. Through pastel, smudging, scraping, etc., he creates the illusion of the sun sparkling on the waves, the grasses waving in a meadow. It's the natural tendency of the pastel on paper that he tries to unleash and not quite control.

He doesn't incorporate fine detail.....just a suggestion of detail. He feels this makes the viewer more engaged in the work.

Michael Doyle

In Michael Doyle’s paintings one will find intimate portrayals of interiors and landscapes.  Life’s richness is examined in each one of his paintings. The viewer can trace the touch of Doyle’s brush as it presses through wet paint with a light graze here and a heavy dash there. Michael Doyle uses tones and hues that are present in nature and his palette is as expressive as each one of his brushstrokes.  Doyle’s love of painting leads him to explore the relationships of objects to their surrounding environment through the study of light and color contrasts. By doing so, he recognizes the beauty in each landscape, still life, and interior he paints.

Susan Fox Hirschmann

Ceramic Artist, Susan Fox Hirschmann, has a lifetime of studies in the arts, clay, and design. Her return to her magical home here in Cape May County, in Wildwood Crest, four years ago, has brought her new inspiration. These beaches, the sunsets, the birds, the butterflies, the ocean, the dune grasses, all of nature’s magic energizes her passion to create in clay. And Susan just loves working in clay!

Susan studied at American University (BA) and Corcoran School of Art (Ceramics and Interior Design) both in Washington DC. Her work is in collections and homes worldwide and she has won numerous awards for her unique work, as well as being featured and published in fine craft books and magazines. She has exhibited at nationally renowned juried Art and Craft Shows nationwide. “The joy of working in clay is my passion,” she states, “and my years on the beaches, the trails, all of Cape May’s natural abundance, influence my work. Carving seashells, ocean waves, dune grasses and familiar faces enjoying them all, are incorporated into my work. Color and texture, like those found in the sea scapes of local sunsets, influence my work. I love that people can enjoy my pottery, for then the circle, from maker to user, is complete. This continues to create that magic I feel being a ceramic artist.

To give others joy with my work is truly fulfilling!” Most of Susan’s work begins on the potter’s wheel, with stoneware or porcelain clay and after intricate carving or additions, the work is fired in her kilns. Then she glazes each, with her own glazes, before a second firing to 2400 degrees Fahrenheit, for permanence and durability. Most glazes are either painted
or airbrushed on each piece. Many pieces have added natural reeds, grape vines and bamboo, adding texture to her art. Each piece is a six-week process from wet clay to finished piece making each, one of a kind and unique.

After forty-five years creating in clay, the work from Susan’s hands is ceramic art that is always evolving, like the oceans and the seasons. Susan is honored and excited to be featured artist at Jessie Creek Winery!

Larissa Silva

Larissa Silva’s art blends harmoniously to evoke curiosity and contemplation through the interplay of textured embroidery threads over bold surface hues of paint and ink. Luscious flora and fauna surrounding her Cumberland County home, near the Maurice River, provide an endless source of inspiration for each unique masterpiece.

Born and raised among generations of artisans on both sides of her family, she never doubted her desire to create and share art. Although her paintings have evolved over the years into the mixed-media abstract paintings you are currently viewing, it wasn’t until she graduated from Rowan University as an Art Educator in 2022 that she felt the confidence to “let go” and unleash her creative renderings and unique style. After raising five children who have transitioned to independent lives, she finds joy and freedom in creating art at home after countless hours of teaching energetic middle-school students in Bridgeton, NJ. Her husband, Jose Silva, remains her greatest source of encouragement, always supporting her artistic wanderings and celebrating her current success.

Elissa Goldberg

Elissa Goldberg started drawing with pastels approximately 20 years ago. She is now a member of the Pastel Society of America. Some of her pieces have been inspired by her many travels and wondrous explorations through her native Bucks County, while others come from her vivid imagination. Spending countless hours refining her technique and compositions, she hopes the viewer will share her appreciation of the combination of light, movement and color that makes each piece so alive.

Elissa finds pastels exciting as it is an immediate transfer onto paper. There is no mixing. There are no chemicals. The ideas in her head can be expressed simply and quickly. She has learned over the years how to manipulate the colors in such a way to make them both bold and subtle. Using the sides of the pastel sticks, as well as the edges, creates a multitude of effects. Further, the overlapping of colors allows unlimited potential Elissa’s passion for art has come from her family roots. Her grandmother and her aunt, both accomplished artists in their own right, were her first art teachers. Elissa’s artwork can be found in many galleries throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Namita Wlotko

In my life I have had many pastimes.  Painting has become my greatest one.  I paint in oils because I like the texture and their blending ability.  I start out by drawing a rough picture, and then blocking in the shapes with a base coat of thin oil paint.  And then I use several layers of different brush strokes to create the completed painting.  My goal is to bring beauty and happiness to those that view my art.

My blessings overflow.  A percentage of the proceeds go to help the women that have suffered so much – the survivors of human trafficking.

Mikala Miller

My journey with flowers began in 2020, and it quickly became a passion. What started as a love for gardening evolved into a desire to capture and extend the life of these beautiful blooms. Seeing their beauty fade inspired me to experiment with various drying and preservation techniques, and now I’m thrilled to share these everlasting floral creations with you.

Art and nature have always been intertwined in my life. Growing up surrounded by art in my family’s gallery, I learned the power of design and the importance of bringing beauty into people’s homes. It was a natural evolution to discover my passion for flowers – living works of art. At Sunbaked Stems, I bring that same dedication to design and quality, cultivating and drying all my flowers right here in Cape May County. From seed to finished piece, every creation is crafted with intention and love, using only the finest materials, from organic practices in my garden to acid-free mats and UV-blocking glass. My goal is to create floral art that brings lasting joy to you & your home.

Marion Lotka

Marion graduated from Philadelphia University and also studied at Philadelphia College of Art, Moore College of Art and Fleisher Art Memorial. As a New Jersey resident, she studied with Rita Michalenko, Andrea Sauchelli and currently teaches painting for the Cape May County Library. She is on the board of directors with Ocean City Fine Arts League, volunteers and exhibits at the Art On Asbury Gallery.

Marion’s paintings have been purchased by Atlanticare and are part of the Healing Arts Program permanent installations. She is an Associate Member Artist with Riverfront Renaissance, a member of Society of New Jersey Artists, Ocean City Art Center, Gallery 50 and Stockton Noyes. Her award winning work has been exhibited in many solo and group shows in New Jersey and private collections.

The intention of my work is to respond to a subject seen with a degree of independence from visual references. If a view or object makes my heart beat a little faster, I’m inspired to paint it. I am interested in still life, but in a way that questions perspective and context. I observe landscape in terms of time and memory and my paintings are often inspired by the evolving sky, land and sea views here in southern New Jersey, using layered acrylic and mixed media gestures and marks to explore scale, color and texture.

Carol Keiser

I am a watercolor artist, painting a kind of realism.  I give a lot of detail to my paintings.  I Like what was said about Van Gogh, “I want people to see what I see."  I view life in detail, colors, shapes, people, and stories.  Norman Rockwell was asked by the POST to place no words with the artwork he submitted.  They wanted the piece to speak for itself.  I find I want my artwork to do the same.  I tend to pick subjects that speak to me of a time, place, conversation, or event; and, in turn, I hope it will speak to others.

I was born and raised in New Jersey.  I am married 39 years, have 3 daughters and 7, almost 8, grandchildren.  My husband Dan, a musician, and I now reside in Hammonton, NJ near Wharton State Forest.  I have been painting on and off my whole life, inspired by two established artists, Fred Arnott (sculptor), and Joan Arbeiter, (painter). During my pursuit, life got busy with family and elderly parents, so it wasn't until more recently that I have been able to concentrate on my painting.  I attended DuCret School of the Arts in Plainfield, NJ for a short period of time, which was a private school composed of classes by accomplished artists.  After that, I took lessons from various local artists to develop techniques.  The most recent was by artist, Kathy Johnston English, who has tremendously helped me to escalate my painting and skill.  I am forever looking and learning from fellow artists and my surroundings.

My artwork has been placed in juried shows locally, several I have won and placed.  I also have displayed at different events throughout the year.  Recently I have done some commissioned pieces as well.

Molly Sanger Carpenter

My early interest in art as a child led to classes at the Delaware Art museum and long hours spent drawing in my room. In high school and after, I interned with sculptor Charles Cropper Parks FNNS, where I gained experience in sculpture enlargement, reduction, mold making and casting. Upon graduation, I attended The Frudakis Academy of Fine Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia. I continued my education, studying glass art, mosaic, mural arts, carving, and welding.

My work has been shown in galleries and shows Across the middle eastern United States and beyond and has been collected worldwide. My most recent work is of ornamented “icons” that celebrate nature, the spirit and the imagination, combining elements of sculpture, mosaic and painting. I start each piece with clay, and hand finish with paint, gold leaf and mosaics of glass and semi-precious stones. I have developed the process of creating these artworks over a period of time and trial, having landed on this particular technique after much experimentation. What I have now is a process of my own from start to finish. The work takes time- I cut each piece of glass by hand and apply with tweezers- while other aspects of the process require patience as I wait weeks for materials to properly cure.

It is my hope and intention that these works bring as much joy to the viewer as they brought to me in the creation. My studio is located in the large sun-filled parlor in the downstairs of our 300 year old farmhouse where I live with my husband and dogs. The fields, water and woods around us provide constant inspiration that I tap into on long daily walks. I find the sacred in the creation that surrounds me there and the work that I do is how I celebrate and give thanks for that venerated gift.

Inspired by the things I love, my art constantly evolves with me. With a degree in marine biology, my heart will always belong to the sea. When I'm not creating art, I work fulltime at Absecon Veterinary Hospital, caring for a variety of animal species. This daily interaction with animals fuels my passion and dedication for animal welfare, care and creativity!

Through the use of acrylics and watercolors I highlight the beauty I see and cherish. My artwork is inspired by the things I love most, the ocean and wildlife.

Giving back is also a core part of my mission. I'm committed to supporting environmental conservation and animals in need. With each purchase I allow others to help preserve this vision, by donating a portion of the proceeds to conservation efforts.
